Join Our Team
CAF Consulting is seeking a GIS Officer to deliver high-quality spatial services to our local government and private sector clients across Victoria.
Based from either our Shepparton or Melbourne offices and regularly embedded within client teams. You'll play a key role in managing spatial data, supporting GIS platforms, producing deliverables, and providing hands-on assistance to end users. You'll work under the guidance of our GIS Manager within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that values professionalism, innovation and genuine client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage, quality-assure and transform GIS data across client systems, maintaining accuracy and integrity.

Deliver spatial analysis, system configuration and end-user support across desktop and enterprise platforms.
-
Develop and maintain ETL workflows (e.g. FME, Python) for data loading and transfer between systems.
-
Provide training and guidance to client staff on GIS platforms and workflows.
-
Support the configuration, administration and troubleshooting of client platforms (on-premises and Cloud/SaaS).
-
Assist in preparing proposals and fee estimates and contribute to continuous improvement across the GIS division.
About You
-
Minimum 3 years' experience in a GIS role within Australia.
-
Tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science, Computer Science, Geography or a related discipline — or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Strong skills with mapping software such as QGIS, MapInfo and ArcGIS Pro
-
Working knowledge of enterprise platforms such as IntraMaps, Spectrum Spatial Analyst or ArcGIS Online/Portal.
-
Competency with SQL for database querying and validation.
-
FME experience highly regarded; scripting (Python, JavaScript) and data visualisation (ArcGIS Dashboards, Power BI) desirable.

Australian driver's licence.

CAF Consulting (CAF) is a multi-disciplined engineering consultancy with an established client base and solid long term work prospects in urban and rural water infrastructure, agribusiness, UAV (drone) and scanning survey technologies, rural and urban development, civil and structural engineering, construction and project management, transport, resources, energy and building. CAF work across a range of projects; residential, commercial, industrial, civil, agriculture, roads, drainage, etc. and require a Licenced Surveyor to undertake the following as required by our scope of works. ï‚· Cadastral Survey ï‚· Creation and lodgement of ePlans From time to time a Licenced Surveyor may also need to assist the Survey team with: ï‚· Feature and level surveys ï‚· Construction set out surveys ï‚· As constructed surveys ï‚· Preparation and uploading of 3D models for machine control ï‚· 3D scanning and data processing ï‚· Preparation and completion of data using AutoCAD/ Civil 3D The Licenced Surveyor will be required to work autonomously and be responsible for the survey component of a project from start to finish. Role Objectives:
Work across a range of projects; residential, commercial, industrial, civil, agriculture, roads, drainage,
etc. to undertake the following as required by our scope of works.
- Feature and level surveys
- Construction set out surveys
- As constructed surveys
- Preparation and uploading of 3D models for machine control
- 3D scanning and data processing
- Preparation and completion of data using AutoCAD/ Civil 3D
- Operation of DJI and Wintra drones

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out and complete survey works in accordance with:

- Using GPS, Total Station and traditional surveying methods

Water Engineer

The Water Engineer will be assisting the Water Infrastructure Team across a variety of projects from concept to detailed design/ engineering, as constructed drawings and project close. Drafting and design tasks will be carried out using AutoCAD, Civil3D, Civil Site Design or equivalent. Other aspects may include project management of site works.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior staff with highly complex projects, as instructed.
- Manage moderately complex projects from beginning to end.
- Represent CAF at client meetings for assigned projects.
- Advise clients on technical solutions for projects with varying scope and complexity.
- Assist with the development of submissions for projects, in consultation with Senior staff.
- Brief, assign and check work of assisting engineers, draftspersons and/or technical / administrative assistants as required, throughout the project life.
- Exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of engineering principles, standards, techniques and methods in order to achieve client solutions.
- Supervision of construction works, including inspection of work on site, responses to contractor queries and problem solve site issues.
- Provides regular work-in-progress reports to Senior staff.
- Ensures constant communication with colleagues, clients, project team etc (as appropriate), throughout the life of the project.
- Is aware of costs and constraints on projects and reports any inconsistencies to senior staff.
- ï‚· Assist with developing new systems, procedures and processes in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the department.
- Maintains compliance with CAF Quality, OHS, Environment and HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Report non-conformances to Senior staff as soon as they are discovered.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring of junior team members.

Required Skills
ï‚·- Demonstrated Civil design exposure to water, sewer, drainage, pumps and associated infrastructure. ï‚· - Understanding of water and wastewater treatment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Australian Standards and other industry design guidelines
- Demonstrated CAD experience and working knowledge, Civil 3D Site Design desirable.

Civil Engineer

The Civil Engineer role is responsible for undertaking a variety of designs and inspections across
agricultural/ earthworks based projects for our private and government Clients. As Civil Engineer you will
provide accurate technical solutions, bill of quantities, cost estimates and inspections to assist in CAF
achieving of the objectives of internal and external clients to the approved scope.

- Manages the majority of small to medium projects from beginning to completion
- Represents CAF at client meetings for assigned projects
